A multi-levels approach to reduce unnecessary imaging for low back pain in primary care
CHRISTE Guillaume (HESAV)
Résumé du projet
Low back pain (LBP) is one of the most important health problems worldwide. International guidelines on managing LBP have been proposed to help primary care practitioner to increase evidence-based practice care and reduce the utilisation of unnecessary healthcare, including diagnostic imaging. Yet, despite similar and strong recommendations in most countries, there is still an important gap between guidelines and clinical practice. Improving guidelines implementation is a priority to decrease the burden of LBP. Given the challenge to implement guidelines into practice, innovative, context-specific and multi-level approaches are required. Therefore, in line with 'choosing wisely' initiative, the general goal of this project is to implement a package of effective interventions in primary care practice to decrease the rate of disabling chronic LBP and the related costs. In this purpose, a multi-level intervention has been designed based on the available literature and susceptible to fit with the context of care in Switzerland
