Development of a mobile application to assess multidimensional factors in low back pain

CHRISTE Guillaume (HESAV)

Résumé du projet

Low back pain (LBP) is a major global health problem with multidimensional contributing factors. While prior research has repeatedly demonstrated altered spinal motion in patients with LBP, its role in LBP development and recovery remains largely unknown. This is mainly due to prior studies being limited to laboratory settings and small sample size. Therefore, it is of major importance to assess multidimensional factors, including spinal motion with multiple follow-ups and in large populations of patients with LBP. The aim of this project is to develop a mobile application (MA) to measure spinal motion, psychological factors, pain intensity, disability and physical activity levels for patients with LBP. This will create the opportunity to better understand the longitudinal interrelations between these multidimensional factors and inform rehabilitation strategies. In addition, future development of the MA will open the door to a personalized tool for LBP management.
